I would tell my mother about going to get the potato chips and for months she assumed I drink till I pass out just like my aunt shirt. Imagine her shock when she realized I was telling the truth. For most of my childhood years my mother was a working single mom. By necessity I was home by myself for hours every day after school and for entire summers. I roamed the entire mountain where we lived during the summers. I would ride my bicycle everywhere and I spent plenty of time hiking in the woods.
I drink till I pass out just like my aunt shirt, hoodie, sweater and tank top
Best I drink till I pass out just like my aunt shirt
I don’t know that my mother ever realized the extent of my travels or some of the I drink till I pass out just like my aunt shirt? In some ways I feel bad for my children because they won’t experience as much freedom and autonomy as I did at their ages. But so much of my freedom was born of necessity. There wasn’t money to send me to a summer camp, so I stayed at home and invented my fun. I am thankful for my own childhood experiences, yet I rarely let my own eight-year-old son ride his bicycle around our neighborhood alone. I tell myself it’s because some of my neighbors back out of their driveways fast and without looking or otherwise drive too fast for a neighborhood.
