There can be a couple of drawbacks too including grogginess, and causing nighttime sleep problems. However keeping the naptime below 20 or so minutes usually prevents either of these occurring. The spanish artista Dali used to nap for only a Split second. He would hold a tea spoon in his hand, just gently between two fingers, while starting to nap, sitting in a chair. The momento he would doze off, the spoon would drop on the floor, waking him up again. He found this nap refreshing. Personally I like to lay down for about half an hour and maybe I’ll sleep for only 5 to 10 minutes.
One thing that you need to consider is that after you’ve just eaten, your blood is needed in your digestive system. Having a rest allows the blood to go there. If you would do exercise after a meal, the blood would need to go into the muscles, making digestión more difficult. I think that it is a good thing to take naps in the middle of the day. I can understand why others would have the opposite opinion, but for me personally, I think they are great to take during the day. The longer I sleep, the better I am when I wake up.
